This page explains what is stored on your device when you visit watts365.com, and how to change your mind. In short: the site works without any cookies, and the optional extras only load if you click Accept on the banner.
What we always store
When you answer the cookie banner, the site saves your choice (accepted or declined) in your browser’s local storage under the name watts365-cookie-consent. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is there so we don’t ask you again on every page. It is strictly necessary for the banner to work, so it doesn’t need consent.
What only loads if you accept
Microsoft Clarity is an analytics tool from Microsoft. It helps me see which posts get read and where people get stuck, using anonymised session recordings and heatmaps. When you accept, Clarity sets cookies such as _clck, _clsk, CLID and MUID in your browser. Cookie names and lifetimes are set by Microsoft and can change, so see Microsoft’s Clarity documentation for the current list. Microsoft’s privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com.
Buy Me a Coffee is the small teal button in the corner of the page. It’s a widget loaded from Buy Me a Coffee’s servers, so your browser connects to them and they may set their own cookies. See the Buy Me a Coffee privacy policy for details.
If you decline, neither of these loads and nothing is sent to them. The button simply won’t appear.
What we don’t use
There are no advertising or marketing cookies, no social media tracking pixels and no comment or login cookies. The site’s fonts are hosted on the site itself, not fetched from Google.
Changing your mind
Choose Cookie settings in the footer at any time to see the banner again and change your answer. If you withdraw consent, the extras stop loading from then on. To remove cookies already set, clear them in your browser’s settings for watts365.com. Your browser can also block cookies entirely, which will not stop the site working.
Links to other sites
Posts link to other websites, such as Microsoft, GitHub and LinkedIn. Those sites have their own cookie and privacy policies, which I don’t control.
